Data Loss Prevention

I’m sure there are more interesting and compelling titles but “Data Loss Prevention” for an IT person should be an eye-opener. Really, what’s more important? The job is all about managing data, right?
I attended a local user group meeting today for the Federated Security Professionals and CA Technologies Denny Prvu delivered an interesting (and humorous) presentation on DLP. It’s not the first time I’ve been exposed to that particular IT challenge. Denny was continuing-ed for me. Anyway, DLP is something I feel needs to be highlighted more and more. It seems as if corporations and individuals are losing ground in this battle. However, check out the link below. In my previous role at BMC I met a guy in New York who had just been hired by the FBI to join a team focused on cyber crime. In addition to what vendors like CA Technologies are inventing, maybe with these guys keeping an eye on things there’s still a chance.
