Within the wild world of Jackass, Steve-O has received some of the most gruesome injuries of the crew. These are just a few of the worst.
Netflix recently released Jackass 4.5 on May 20, 2022, which included unaired footage from Jackass Forever. As the crew of Jackass is getting older and their bodies are taking longer to heal, many fans feel that they aren't likely to film another movie as the original crew. But although they may be winding down on the intense stunts that are seemingly destroying their bodies, they will forever be remembered as the most extreme stuntmen of the century.
Steve-O's claim to fame was pulling some of the most absurd stunts on the show and in the subsequent movies that followed. With this line of work, Steve-O has suffered some serious injuries, and he talked about some of the worst injuries of his career in a video he posted on his YouTube channel. Despite this, Steve-O still couldn't say no to Jackass Forever.
One of Steve-O's more memorable injuries was when he jumped off a roof of a house and into a fairly shallow hot tub. But instead of just hitting the bottom of the tub, his tailbone clipped the bench. Despite the bruising and swelling he sustained, that was luckily the worst of the injury, though he said it obviously hurt a lot.

Steve-O shared the photos of his bruised and swollen backside, saying "Thank God I got away with that one cause if you mess with your spine, it's not good."
One of Steve-O's stunts was tightrope walking over a bed of coals with no harness or anything to keep him from falling off, while flaming balls of fire were thrown at him. However, the owner of the warehouse where the stunt was going to take place didn't want his floors damaged, so he had sheet metal installed over the floor, which made it scalding hot.
The stunt was for Jackass 3.5, and Steve-O almost immediately fell into the fire, burning one side of his body. He was newly sober and said it was the first stunt where he couldn't numb the pain with drugs or even painkillers.
The night before Steve-O was meant to present at the Latin America VMA's, he and his friend Chris Pontius partied super hard. Steve-O said that Chris Pontius ended up in a psychiatric hospital after being found sleeping naked on top of a car.
Steve-O's injury was ultimately a broken foot but his pinky toe was dislocated so badly it was hanging off his foot. Steve-O went to the awards show and was carried out to present before going to the hospital to have his foot x-rayed.
Early in his career, Steve-O and his friends liked to get into shopping carts and crash into things. They then moved onto garbage cans on wheels and would launch themselves at various objects or off of a high surface. In this specific stunt, they were going to push Steve-O off of a roof in a garbage can, but the garbage can wheel got stuck right as he was about to go over the edge. Steve-O flew out of the garbage can and landed head and shoulder first.

This resulted in a gnarly broken collar bone but he didn't go see a doctor until several days later. The x-ray showed a clean snap right in the middle of his collarbone.
It's no surprise that Steve-O has had his fair share of surgeries, but he had to have his first one at some point. Steve-O was with his friend on his boat when they decided to take the intertube out for a spin. While Steve-O was in the water, his leg hit something hard.
He suffered a large cut one on side of his leg and another smaller cut on the opposite side of the same leg. While this injury is fairly mild in the grand scheme of Steve-O injuries, it resulted in his first surgery that he was pretty scared about.
When Steve-O was fairly young, before Jackass or fame, he loved to play with fire. He would do fire-breathing acrobatics and even light his hair on fire. One night when he was at a party with friends, he wanted to do a stunt involving fire in which a friend was supposed to blow a fireball off his head, and then Steve-O would do a fire-breathing backflip. But the friend accidentally blew the fire directly into Steve-O's face.
He continued the stunt even with half of his head on fire, and when he finished, he touched his face and felt that most of the skin had come away. He sustained some serious injuries, but healed incredibly fast and was almost fully healed within two weeks.
When Steve-O was filming Jackass 2, the director wanted him to reshoot a stunt in which 50 Cent had pushed him down concrete stairs in a bellhop cart. The first time he did it with 50 Cent, he wasn't injured. But this time, he landed on his back on the cart and immediately knew something was wrong.
In classic Jackass fashion, Steve-O went to the hospital and was told that he fractured his back. Despite it being a small fracture, he couldn't film or do any stunts for months after. In the end, he says it wasn't really worth it because the stunt was ultimately at the very end of the movie during the credits.
When Steve-O was a teenager, he liked to show off to his friends by jumping off from high places. He had a method to this so that he knew exactly how to fall and never get hurt. But one night, he had been drinking and doing drugs and wanted to show off to a girl. But instead of falling the way he usually did, he just fell backward off the balcony from a second-story floor.

He landed flat on his face on concrete and all of his friends thought he had died because he wasn't moving. He ended up with a broken wrist, fractured skull, seven broken teeth, and 10 stitches on his chin.
At some point, Steve-O had the idea to jump with his skateboard from a port-a-potty while a car crashes into it. He enlisted the help of Tony Hawk and they had three chances to get it right, as they only had three port-a-potties. The first two attempts didn't work out, so on the third attempt, he knew he had to stick it. He landed so hard that he shattered the bones in one of his ankles.
He ended up needing surgery in which they used 11 screws and a metal plate to fix his ankle. He was also sober by that time, so he couldn't take any painkillers afterward.
Steve-O says this was his most horrific and painful injury. He was shooting the finale for his comedy special Gnarly and wanted to blow up his living room with him in it. In the first few takes of this stunt, he wasn't getting hurt, and, as it was the finale of his show, he wanted some drama - cue the rocket engine fuel.
He lay in a bed of rocket fuel and his team lit it on fire. He ended up with the worst burns he's ever had, needing skin grafts on 15 percent of his body and with huge blisters covering his skin. The result of this stunt truly embodied the comedy special and his wounds were indeed gnarly.
